Xinwei Che (b. 1992, Jilin, China) is a Vancouver-based artist working across ceramics, performance, and site-responsive installation. Her practice examines how material surfaces register personal, collective, and ecological histories over time. She embraces the possibilities of cracks, ruptures, and seepage in a world that is on the brink of both crisis and transformation. Che holds a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design (2015) and an MFA from Emily Carr University of Art & Design (2022). Her work has been presented in Richmond Art Gallery, Gordon Smith Gallery, Libby Leshgold Gallery, Esplanade Singapore, Treasure Hill Historic Site Taipei, and The Godown Kuala Lumpur, among others. She has participated in residencies at Centre A: Vancouver International Centre for Contemporary Asian Art (2026), Medalta Historic Clay District (Gwen Strojich Fellowship, 2025), Taipei Artist Village (2022), and Vermont Studio Center (Merit Grant, 2018).

Xinwei hosts collaborative workshops that explore negotiation, support, and communication through material change. She has been a sessional faculty at Emily Carr University since 2023.
